*RETAIL - Dianthus barbatus 'Sooty'

Perennial sweet william with deep red flowers in clusters above light green foliage. Evergreen in mild climates, these bloom in late spring through early summer on compact plants to only 12-18" tall x 18" wide. Hummingbirds love them; gardeners as well. Occasional deadheading lengthens the bloom time in full sun to part shade and rich well-drained soil with regular summer water. Frost hardy to -40F, USDA zone 3. Said to be deer tolerant.
